Across planets
The proportion of players across planets changes every second we spend reading, so...
Remember to refresh this page for the most up to date figures! Data updates roughly every 2 minutes.
Player numbers tend to be at a maximum when America is awake! Also note that certain API endpoints from various providers might be down at certain points in time, and unfortunately there is nothing we can do
about it, short of diversifying our API calls. The main graph you saw at the start is taken from helldivers dev api using Rust reqwest and processed with polars, and offers us the most intricate of details. "Pushback force"
is taken to the planet regeneration of HP per hour. If this assumption is correct, the pushback force that sites like helldivers.io present as "faction dependent" is incorrect or vice versa.
In contrast, this neat pie chart you see to the left, is from another API called api helldivers dev.
in hours
Here are the times left for the planets to be liberated. The smaller the number, the closer the planet is to liberty.

Conversely, you could see this as the remaining time you have to enjoy their biomes.

Total player count
Total player count. Player count has been recorded every few minutes since mid June, with a few gaps in the earlier stages stemming from technical difficulties.
Conversely, our player count is recorded from the API provided in the game (3rd party), which means that the player counts here are in total, not just PC, unlike those seen in steamDB. Also note that steamDB only records player counts every 1/2h to a few hours.

Super Earth Force
30 layer NNet model, random forest, XGBoost and radal SVM analysis of data.
This applies for both planets in liberation and defence since we are examining the effect on unadulterated Super Earth force, which is not affected by the difference in how pushback force/planet HP regeneration
works with.
How important are Proportion, Bullets Fired and Mission Success Rate?
By looking at Super Earth Force as opposed to Liberation rate/h, we effectively remove the obfuscation from pushback force.
Feel free to move around in the 3d space presented and look at how super earth force, the vertical factor (z variable), changes wrt to the variables plotted as well as the size of the points, which denote the mission success rate! Also note that mission success rate
calculated in our pipeline is the mission success rate of all missions completed the last 5 intervals of data gathering (about 10-20minutes), to counter the insensitivity to changes due to the law of large numbers.
2 original datasets
Combination of data from helldiverstrainingmanual and helldivers dev api.
Data is pinged from these 2 at 2minute intervals.
for Liberation Rate/h
Does liberation rate per hour depend on the number of players playing?
Generally yes, with many exceptions and clear differences between planets.
Take note that these are after the pushback force by the opposing factions are taken into account, since these liberation/h figures are derived from the rate at which the hp of a planet is decreasing.
for Liberation Rate/h
Does liberation rate per hour depend on the number of missions successfully completed?
Generally yes, with many exceptions and clear differences between planets, again.
Take note that these are after the pushback force by the opposing factions are taken into account, since these liberation/h figures are derived from the rate at which the hp of a planet is decreasing.
Interplay of Player Activity and Planet Liberatione
In the vast and dynamic universe of Helldivers 2, the battle for liberation is not just a matter of individual heroism but a complex interplay of player
activity, mission completion, and the game's unique mechanics. Our analysis reveals a fascinating correlation between player count, missions completed successfully,
and the liberation rate per hour for planets. However, this correlation is not uniform across all planets, even within the same factions, challenging the notion that a single
pushback force could be the sole determinant of liberation success.
The game's mechanics, such as the regeneration of planet health during off-peak hours and the varying regeneration rates across different factions, contribute to
this variability. These factors, combined with the strategic importance of peak playtimes, highlight the complexity of planet liberation efforts. For instance, while a
focused blitz strategy can yield significant liberation gains within a single day, the spreading-out strategy, which involves attacking multiple planets simultaneously, may not
yield the same results due to the drop in player numbers and subsequent health regeneration 2.
Moreover, the game's global playerbase distribution, concentrated primarily around daytime and evening hours in the United States, plays a crucial role in determining
liberation progress. This distribution, coupled with the game master's control over health regeneration rates, means that liberation efforts can slip back overnight, especially outside
the largest playerbase's active hours 5.
Despite these challenges, the community's collective efforts towards liberation remain a testament to the game's unique mechanics and
the players' dedication. However, it's clear that rallying a few players or friends to liberate a planet together may not always yield the desired results,
due to the inherent distribution of player activity and the game's dynamic regeneration mechanics. This understanding underscores the futility of relying on a small
group to make significant strides in planet liberation, highlighting the need for broader community engagement and strategic planning to achieve meaningful progress in the Galactic War.
In conclusion, while there is a correlation between player count, mission completion, and liberation rates,
the variability across planets and factions, along with the game's unique mechanics, underscores the complexity
of planet liberation in Helldivers 2. This complexity, coupled with the distribution of player activity, suggests that efforts to
liberate planets should be approached with a nuanced understanding of these factors, emphasizing the importance of community
engagement and strategic planning over individual or small group efforts.
